Description: In 2009, ECHO DCL bid on and was eventually awarded an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract from the Bureau of Indian Affairs for portable, modular classrooms across the country. The BIA had identified a need for these classrooms and after an extensive qualifying process, the BIA chose ECHO DCL as its modular classroom provider.
After having already successfully completed a portable, modular classroom building in Mariano Lake, the BIA identified another need for classroom space, this time in the Borrego Pass area of New Mexico. Borrego Pass is actually just about 30 miles northeast of Mariano Lake, about a hundred miles northwest of Albuquerque. Like Mariano Lake, Borrego Pass is in a very rural and mountainous area of western New Mexico. Because of its remote location, resources such as schools and other business are scarce at Borrego Pass, thus the need for ECHO DCL’s portable, modular classrooms.
At Borrego Pass, ECHO DCL completed the design and construction of two portable classrooms totaling 3,360 square feet. ECHO DCL team members provided a full turndey solution for the BIA that included installing a fire alarm, gutters and downspouts and completing all utility connections. This successful modular classroom project was completed in just 29 days.
