ECHO DCL, Inc. Aides Back-to-School Effort

JOPLIN, MO – ECHO DCL is pleased to announce the successful completion of a nearly 3,000 sq. ft. modular locker room facility for the East Middle School at Crossroads Industrial Complex in Joplin, MO. This locker room facility will be used by students at East Middle School who were among the thousands displaced by the deadly tornado that damaged or destroyed ten Joplin School District buildings.

On May 22, 2011 at 5:41pm, an EF-5 tornado with 200+ mph winds tore through the city of Joplin, MO. The mile-wide storm damaged or destroyed approximately 30-percent of the city. It also killed more than 150 people, ranking it as one of the single deadliest tornadoes in U.S. history. In the days after the storm, Joplin School District and other local and state officials set a goal to return students to school on the previously scheduled start date of August 17, 2011. This required an extraordinary effort to construct modular classrooms at several different sites and even converting empty space in a mall to serve the students of Joplin. ECHO DCL President James B. Bell, III said, “ECHO DCL is proud and honored to have been a part of the rebuilding process and helping to restore a sense of normalcy to the school students of Joplin.”
